Strategic Planning:

Creating Whitesboro Central School District's Tomorrow Today

The Whitesboro Central School District is engaged in a process to move toward an even brighter future. The process is known as strategic planning. We've just completed our renewed Strategic Plan.

A 18-member team, representing Whitesboro's parents, teachers, administrators, staff, community members, and area business people, created a draft strategic plan in early July 2003. This plan included beliefs (fundamental convictions), a mission statement (the declaration of a unique identity to which we aspire), parameters (our self-imposed boundaries), objectives (our uncompromising commitment to results), and strategies (bold resolutions that dedicate the district's resources and energies).

"Action plans" were then developed. Action team members (representatives of students, community members, teachers, and administrators) created action plans, derived from the strategies, for the district to follow. In Spring 2004, the Board of Education approved the strategic plan, as well as the first-year implementation plan. Implementation of seventeen of twenty-six action plans began in Summer 2004. Implementation of the entire strategic plan will be phased in over the next five years.

In February of 2007, a 24-member team comprised of Whitesboro's parents, teachers, administrators, staff and community members met to renew the Strategic Plan. Changes and updates were made, presented to the administrativbe team and Board of Education in July of 2007. The administrative team developed goals for the plan in August for implementation beginning in the 2007-2008 school year.
