TECHNOLOGY STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
ATTENDANCE: Perfect attendance is strongly recommended. Arrive to class on time, anyone late must provide a legal blue pass or will receive a tardy check. Students may leave the room for emergencies only.
BE PREPARED TO WORK: Be prepared with all required supplies (engineer’s notebook, folder, and pencil), immediately take your assigned seat, and view the daily agenda while waiting for class to begin.
FOOD AND DRINK: Not permitted in classroom or lab spaces. Plan ahead. Eat or drink prior to or after class.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Personal electronic devices are prohibited in class. Unless specifically noted by the teacher. Ex. Use cell phone or camera device to capture evidence of work to upload to ePortfolio.
COMPUTERS: Each student will be assigned a desktop computer to use regularly. Students must follow district technology policies as stated in the Student-Parent Handbook. Students using a computer for reasons other than classroom assignments will receive a ZERO on the current assignment.
SAFETY: Safety rules are posted throughout the classroom and lab. Students are expected to follow all class safety rules at all times - NO EXCEPTIONS! Safety rules include machine/tool/material use, clean-up procedures, behavior, lab dress code, and the safety of all students.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM: All class materials and assignments will be posted to the class Google Classroom page. Students should regularly check Google Classroom for submission requirements and due dates.
LAB SAFETY RULES
EYE PROTECTION - All students are required to wear safety glasses in the laboratory. Prescription lenses must have polycarbonate lenses or prescription safety glasses. Safety glasses will be provided to all students. Sunglasses are prohibited.
HAIR - Students with long hair will be required to use some form of hair restraint due to the use of power equipment in the Lab. The instructor will determine if hair is sufficiently long to present a safety hazard.
CLOTHING - Clothing that is appropriate for an industrial setting should be worn in the lab. Loose clothing and long sleeves should be avoided. Long pants are recommended to be worn.
FOOTWEAR - Open shoes such as sandals will not be permitted. Closed shoes need to be worn.
FOOD - No food or drink will be allowed in the laboratory area due to the potential contamination or contact with potentially hazardous materials.
EARPHONES - Music players and earphones will not be permitted in class for safety.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION - You are not to use any equipment that Mr. Ott has not trained you to use. Do not operate any equipment unless you are completely familiar with the correct operating procedures.
GENERAL DISTRACTIONS - Limit all distractions in your general environment. Be aware of your surroundings, if someone is doing something unsafe speak up and say something! Always think safety!!!
