
Congressional Award Winner from Whitesboro....

2019- Cassidy Matolka (11th Grade) was the first-place award winner and Sharif Bashir (11th Grade) received an Honorable Mention Award in the Congressional Art Competition for the 22nd District of Congressmen Anthony Brindisi. This annual competition started back in 1982 encourages and recognizes artistic talent throughout the United States. Students from the 22nd Congressional District submitted pieces back in April. All entries had to be an original work in concept, design, and creation. The 22nd District entries were judged by an independent panel of volunteer art experts and were displayed at the Utica Library in April. Cassidy’s winning piece will be in a yearlong exhibition of national winners in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building. Cassidy will be invited to attend a luncheon and see her piece in the exhibition in Washington, D. C. along with the other national winners. Congratulations to both Cassidy and Sharif for their exemplary work. We are proud all the students that submitted pieces to this honorable competition.
