Congratulations to all of our students that submitted pieces for the Scholastics Art Competition this year. We are very proud to announce.....

It Is a Golden Year for the Whitesboro Visual Arts Students

Whitesboro students received huge recognition from the Scholastics Art Competition this year.  Over 4400 pieces were submitted in this year’s competition. All Gold Key pieces will be judged at the National Level. Our high school students alone took home fourteen Gold Keys along with other awards. The middle school also had a banner year with over seventeen students being recognized. We want to acknowledge all the students that took the time, applied their talents and showed great effort to create the pieces. All levels of our program are integral in the development of our students’ artistic endeavors. This is a reflection upon everyone’s efforts in K-12. The students’ accomplishments listed below would not have been possible without your support and efforts. Their recognition is a credit to our outstanding students, parents, faculty, department, administration, Board of Education and the community as a whole.  Thank you to everyone for their contributions. A special “Thank you” goes out to our department members that volunteered on the Judging and Setup Day for the Art Show at Onondaga Community College.

The artworks are currently on display at Onondaga Community College. The work will be displayed at O.C.C. through the first weekend of March. Unfortunately, because of technical difficulties with the submission process this year, the Award Ceremony will be virtual. We are proud of the success all of our students show throughout our K-12 Program. The Gold Key pieces will now go on to the National judging. We are proud of all of our students working to develop their talents and skills. Congratulations to those who had their pieces selected for this beautiful show. A group of middle and high school students will be going at the end of February to enjoy the show. Two special awards were given this year to our students. Camryn Brown received the Sage Scholar Award for the Best 3-D Jr. High piece. Peyton Lahey got a Silver Key for her Portfolio titled "Dots of Me."

Washed White as Snow

We are looking forward to an incredible year. Thank you to Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Papandrea for creating a wonderful experience for our students at their art camps this summer. The students created some awesome works while having a great time....Our secondary teachers have created some wonderful new projects for this year. Thank you to Miss Davis, Mr. Williams, Mrs. Wander and Miss Williams for working diligently on our curriculum. We are thrilled to be offering a dual credit course this year with MVCC. Our Digital Applications Course will be taught by Mr. Williams. We appreciate the district for updating our high school lab with new computers, graphic tablets, and styluses.

We have made adjustments to help people attending our District Art Show. More information will be posted and shared closer to the show. It will be on Friday, May 10th, 2024. Until then, please enjoy students' work being displayed in our buildings, including the Administration Building.
