High School Wellness Fair
Each year, in an effort to make students more aware of the many support services that are available to them, a Wellness Expo is held in the high school. During the expo, students in grades 9-12 have the chance able to speak with local representatives and receive information and handouts on topics such as study skills, relaxation techniques, sensory strategies, healthy eating habits, fitness and community counseling resources.Community Wellness Event
The District Wellness Committee periodically hosts Family Community Wellness Events for students and their parents with giveaways and sponsors on-site to offer expertise and information on different health and wellness topics.Health and Wellness Expo for Staff
During a Superintendent's Conference Day each year, the District hosts a Health and Wellness Expo at the high school for District staff. The most recent expo had an emphasis on promoting new wellness opportunities for teachers to take back to their classroom settings, and new wellness opportunities they can bring back to their students for outside of the classroom as well. Vendors such as nurses, chiropractors, fitness experts, members of the Health Department, and more were on hand to provide information to staff.Hydroponic Gardens
Hart's Hill Elementary was the first school in Oneida County to start a hydroponic garden, which is the growing of plants using mineral nutrient solutions in water, without soil. There are now hydroponic gardens at the middle school and Parkway as well, which were made possible with the help of a state grant. The hydroponic gardens are educational for students, who have the opportunity to help take care of the plants, watch them grow, and even enjoy foods that were made from the plants.Smoothie Bike
The District owns a “Rock the Bike” smoothie bike, which is a stationary bike with a blender attached that makes smoothies as you pedal. According to Rock the Bike, pedaling a full pitcher burns 10 calories and saves 23 watt-hours from the power plant. The smoothie bike is available to be brought into each of the schools for students to use and learn with.Deerfield Wellness Warriors

Elementary schools throughout the District participate in the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge. Funds raised throughout the program benefit the American Heart Association.Local Foods Day
Each year the District participates in Local Foods Day, which is presented by Farm to School Mohawk Valley. During Local Foods Day, the District serves lunch with menu items that come from local farms and businesses.Therapy Dog Visits
A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.
