M.Ed., Reading Specialist K-5

Welcome to AIS Reading! I am one of the reading teachers here at Hart's Hill Elementary.  As an AIS (Academic Intervention Services) teacher, I work with students that will benefit from additional instruction in the areas of Reading and Language Arts.  I work closely with the classroom teacher and provide additional instruction to help children develop their skills on grade level. 

  Why is my child receiving AIS services?

Selected students can benefit from targeted, strategy-based instruction available through our AIS program.  Based on state regulations, students who score below the state designated performance level on the NYS ELA, may be provided Academic Intervention Services.  However, these services are also provided to students, based on district criteria and teacher recommendation.  Teachers may refer students for the AIS program throughout the school year.

What is the goal of AIS?

The goal of AIS is to provide students with the necessary skills and supports to be more successful in achieving the expected learning standards.
