Included is a brief outline of the curricular offerings and available sequences, as well as extracurricular activities and the grade level each course or activity is introduced.

 

Classroom Music
K-Grade 5       One 40-minute class per six-day cycle
Grades 6–8      Ten weeks per year (required of all students)

 

Vocal Music
Grades 4–5      Elementary Chorus (elective, rehearses twice per six-day cycle during the regular school day)
Grades 6–8      Parkway Chorus (elective, rehearses on day one during the regular school day)
                           Seventh Grade Chorus (elective, rehearses day two during the regular school day)
                           Eighth Grade Chorus (elective, rehearses day two during the regular school day)

Grades 9–12    Ninth Grade Girls’ Chorus (elective, 1 credit, rehearses daily during the regular school day)
                           A’Cappella Choir (elective, full year, 1 credit, rehearses daily during regular school day)
                           Vocal Lessons (elective, required for students in chorus,one class per week)

 

Instrumental Music Woodwind, Brass & Percussion
Grades 4–5     Beginning Band (elective, rehearses for 40 minutes once per six-day cycle)

In addition to the activities listed, students are encouraged to participate in events sponsored by the Oneida County Music Educators’ Association and the New York State School Music Association. High School students often participate in the New York State School Music Association’s solo and Area All-State Music Festivals.
