On November 3, 2022, students of Deerfield Elementary were able to experience maple first-hand in an interactive, educational exhibit depicting all facets of the maple industry. They also learned how Native Americans influenced early settlers to develop the flourishing food industry of maple products. At the end of the event, students were given the opportunity to taste the sweet maple syrup for themselves.

The trailer that was parked in the school parking lot, was equipped with a self-contained generator for lights and exhibit pumps. The maple evaporator simulates a “boil” utilizing compressed air to illustrate its operation. All equipment was self-contained within the 9’ by 8’ truck.

The Maple Experience Educational Outreach Program was developed through a New York State legislative grant and is sponsored and managed as a special initiative of the New York State Maple Producers Association. The exhibit is available to schools and educational programs at no charge using funds from a New York State grant program.
