Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!

On February 17, Mrs. Cidzik and Mrs. Kostolecki’s French classes at all levels (ninth-12 grade) participated in a fun-filled cultural event. With masks in hand and jazz music to set the mood, students took part in the making of crepes. Crepes are like thin pancakes that the students filled with Nutella (a chocolate hazelnut spread), jam, strawberries, bananas and whipped cream. The students also enjoyed other delicious foods they prepared.

Mardi Gras on February 21, is a time of celebration that precedes the season of fasting, known as Lent. These celebrations begin on or after the Epiphany, January 6 and end on the Tuesday before Lent, Mardi Gras. This time period is also referred to as Carnival in many other cultures.

The students of Mrs. Cidzik and Mrs. Kostolecki read about Mardi Gras and Carnival celebrations and answered questions during the cultural event. Students who answered correctly received Mardi Gras beads in the traditional colors: purple, gold and green.
