3/3/2023 - Middle School Musical, Disney's "Moana Jr."

On March 3 and 4, Whitesboro’s middle school music department performed Disney's “Moana Jr.” for the public. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Whitesboro music department. 

“Moana Jr.” is based on the 2016 film “Moana.” The music and lyrics are by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina. The book was adapted by Susan Soon He Stanton and the music and orchestrations were arranged and adapted by Ian Weinberger.

The Music Theatre International (MTI) presented “Moana Jr.” through special arrangements. Additionally, MTI authorized and supplied all performance materials.

The music department and students worked diligently to put together a production in eight short weeks that would engage and thrill the audience. Music Director Margaret Tallman said, “I am in awe of what our students were able to accomplish –  it is no small task to act, sing and dance!”

Through the hard work of all those involved in the musical production, the performances were a success and resulted in self-discovery, unlikely friendship and remarkable courage from the students.
