5/25/2023 - SUNY Potsdam Pointercounts Visited Whitesboro HS
On May 25, the a cappella group, the Potsdam Pointercounts, came to perform for Whitesboro High School. The ‘Counts, as they are fondly nicknamed, sang a wide variety of music for our students: from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Three Dog Night to more contemporary artists such as Daniel Caesar. Their performance for Whitesboro ended their spring 2023 tour to schools across the state. The ’Counts are comprised of all current SUNY Potsdam students, many of whom are music education majors at Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. They are one of four active a cappella groups on campus, and the only one to feature all basso (tenor/bass) voices. The ‘Counts have been an active a cappella group since 1992 and have recorded several albums over the past 31 years. They have also participated in many a cappella invitationals and showcases as a group, performing and competing across the state and country over the years.
The current membership includes singers from all corners of New York State, one of whom is a graduate of Rome Free Academy. Whitesboro is incredibly thankful to have welcomed the ‘Counts to perform for us, and we enjoyed learning that an a cappella group is one way to continue participating in music once we graduate from high school.
