10/18/2023 - Marcy on the Move Ends in a Cross Country Race

On October 18, the grounds of Marcy Elementary School became a cross country course for the participants of Marcy on the Move.
 
The cross country race capped off the fall session of Marcy on the Move. Runners were guided by members of the Whitesboro modified boys’ and girls’ cross country teams. Each finisher received a medal courtesy of the Utica Boilermaker Road Race and a fruit slushy provided by the District Wellness Committee. 

The program also highlights good “sportskidship” and awarded certificates to Charlotte Cooley, Jacob Davis, Johnny O’Dell, Annika Soposki, Kadin Strife and Joslyn Warner for their positive attitudes and support of other students.

The five-week afterschool fitness program for students in third through fifth grades offered instruction in track and field events, running, sportsmanship and teamwork. 

“We had a lot of great help from our building faculty and staff this fall, which allowed us to support more students,” program lead Abbie Sutliff said. “We look forward to another amazing turnout in the spring.”
