Students and staff throughout the Whitesboro Central School District participated in the District’s annual “Big Apple Crunch” event on Oct. 26.

The “Big Apple Crunch” is a statewide initiative in which schools partner with local farmers during the apple season to help spread awareness about healthy eating, and to inspire New Yorkers to eat local and support local agriculture.

The apples were purchased from North Star Orchards in Westmoreland and distributed to schools and facilities throughout the District for students and staff to eat. Due to an early frost that damaged a significant portion of apples at local orchards, the apples from North Star Orchards were sourced from various orchards throughout New York State.

The District’s wellness program continues to support this fun and important initiative.
