3/15/2024 - Junior High All-County
On March 15 and 16, students from Whitesboro Middle and High Schools came together with other students in grades 7-9 from across Oneida County to participate in this year’s OCMEA Junior High All-County Festival. The music festival was held at Whitesboro High School.
In order for students to be eligible to participate, they were required to perform a solo piece of music and sight reading in front of an adjudicator this past January. Students with the highest scores were accepted to participate in the festival, and then worked to prepare the repertoire with their music teacher.
On March 15, students came together at Whitesboro High School for the first time to begin rehearsing the repertoire as full ensembles. The Friday and Saturday rehearsals culminated in a concert in front of a full audience in the Whitesboro High School gymnasium on March 16.
The guest conductors were Orchestra Director Mrs. Amie Vredenburg from the Williamsville Central School District, Choral Director Mr. Nick Godzak from the Solvay Union Free School District and Band Director Mrs. Shane Bonney from the West Canada Valley Central School District.
