Food and Nutrition: Chopped Challenge
The food and nutrition classes at the high school recently took part in the Chopped Challenge. Like in the show on Food Network, students were given mystery baskets of ingredients that had to be used in a dish. Five judges then tasted their dishes and crowned the winners.

The challenge spanned over four days. On day one, students received their mystery basket ingredients and took to creating a concept for their dishes. They then had two days in the kitchens to prepare their dishes. On the fourth and final day, they came in plated and heated up their dishes to present to the judges.
Each class had a different mystery basket of ingredients. These ranged from Greek yogurt, hot sauce, spinach and Bisquick mix. Students showed off their culinary skills by baking homemade bread, making sauces from scratch, seasoning their dishes and combining different foods. In turn, they showed their creativity and excellent plating to showcase their dishes.
