For a second year, all of the students in the Whitesboro Central School District are being trained on how to perform hands-only CPR.
During the month of October, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students learned how to determine whether CPR is needed, and how to perform the life-saving measure. Middle school students practiced their compressions using a ball.
It is mandated by New York State that students must be trained in CPR before they can graduate. Prior to 2017, hands-only CPR was only taught to junior and senior students in the Whitesboro Central School District. In 2017, the District taught all K-12 students hands-only CPR for the first time.
