Deerfield Elementary School is partnering with LEVEL UP to bring additional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and drone education to its students.

LEVEL UP is a program committed to unlocking the potential of our youth in STEM, drones, coding and leadership and entrepreneurial skills. There are five levels, which include the following resources and activities:  Presenter

Level 1 – Scratch, Makeblock, littleBits and Sphero

Level 2 – Scratch, Makeblock, littleBits and mBot

Level 3 – Scratch/Python, Apple Swift, 3D Printing and Jumping Sumo

Level 4 – Javascript HTML, Python, Parrot FPV and Parrot Mambo Drone

Level 5 – Arduino, Circuits, Build Your Own and Robots and Drones

“We recognized the importance of increasing our students’ exposure to STEM education,” said Mrs. McGowan, principal at Deerfield Elementary. “We invited the team from LEVEL UP to present a program to all students in grades 3-5. The students learned the basics about coding and drones and for many, it sparked further interest in STEM. With the support of our PTA and parents, we have 44 students participating in the STEM program.”

Four sessions, limited to students who pre-registered, are taking place in the school library after school in May and June. A light snack is provided.
