Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) District Update

The uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus is understandably causing alarm and concern the world over. Be assured that we are taking steps consistent with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the New York State Health Department to mitigate the spread of this and other similarly transmitted viruses. In addition to intensified cleaning and disinfecting practices, we are distributing additional hand sanitizing stations and disinfecting supplies to each of our schools.

The following are some of the recommendations from the CDC aimed at responding to this emerging public health threat:

  • If you are sick, stay home from school.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are already sick.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with a tissue or into your elbow.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth.

For the latest information, visit the CDC website at www.cdc.gov.

We realize it is possible that we may see an increase in student absences given the recommendation to stay home when sick. Please be assured our staff understands this potential and will work with those who are absent due to illness when they return. We do not want anyone negatively impacted by following this guidance.

We will continue working with our local and state health departments to ensure we are doing our part to keep our students, staff, and school community informed and safe.
