Girls Varsity Basketball Routs Notre Dame on Senior Night
The Whitesboro Girls Varsity Basketball team did something it could not do earlier in the season - - beat Notre Dame. After losing to the Jugglers the first time around by a mere three points, the Lady Warriors defeated Notre Dame 50-31 on Senior Night on February 6 at the Warrior Dome.
Whitesboro’s Maria Lapertosa scored a game high 22 points while her sister, Lauren Lapertosa, chipped in 8 points. Francesca Laino led the way for Notre Dame, with 9 points. Notre Dame’s two leading scorers on the season, Anari Harris and Claire Sehring, were held to five points each by the smothering Lady Warriors defense. Going into the game, both Harris and Sehring were averaging over 16 points per game.
The win over Notre Dame was Whitesboro’s season high 7th win in a row. The Lady Warriors are now 13-5 overall and 9-2 in league play and will finish the regular season in second place in the TVL behind 11-1 RFA. With the loss, Notre Dame falls to 9-9 overall and 7-4 in league play, good enough for 4th place in the TVL.
Whitesboro wraps up its regular season on Tuesday, February 10 at home against Proctor.
