Whitesboro CSD, Dunham Public Library Host End-of-Summer Reading Celebration

The Whitesboro Central School District’s Library Media Specialists and the Dunham Public Library staff coordinated a district-wide end-of-summer reading celebration at Dunham Public Library on Thursday, September 27, which turned out to be an enormous success.

More than 200 students from all of the schools, their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, fellow teachers from many of the buildings, and Administrator Lisa Putnam all attended. All four elementary libraries, PTOs and the high school library provided gift cards to be given as prizes to those who attended. Twenty-six gift cards ranging in amounts from $20 to $50 were given away, totaling $525.

Everyone enjoyed being there for the activities, refreshments, obtaining their own library card, borrowing materials, or just for the socialization. The staff at Dunham Public Library were very gracious and accommodating to all of us, and they provided the refreshments and many of the activities.

Thank you all for making this night such a wonderful success. We look forward to having more of these in our individual buildings as well as in the public library in the future. It was a great way to include our community library and invite the community to a common place to celebrate reading!
