Marcy Kindergartners Collect Donations for Stevens-Swan Humane Society
The animals at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Utica will have new treats, blankets, toys and more for the holiday season, thanks to the generosity of the kindergarten classes at Marcy Elementary.
For the 21st year in a row, Mrs. Tirenin once again organized a collection of items to be donated to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society. Each of the kindergarten classes participated, and on Wednesday, Dec. 19, John Treen, the shelter manager at the Humane Society, visited the kindergarteners when he came to get the donations
Treen brought Jingle the Lionhead rabbit along for his visit, and each of the students got to pet him. Treen talked to the kindergarten students about the important work that they do at Stevens-Swan Humane Society, and the students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the animals that they help there.
At the end of the visit, fourth grade students Jonah Mansberger and Aszonna Arnold helped Mr. Treen load all of the boxes and bags full of donations into the Humane Society’s van to be taken back to the shelter.
Thank you to everyone who donated, and thank you to Mr. Treen and Jingle for visiting the kindergarten students!
