Unified Bowling Team Takes First Place at Section III Tournament in Mattydale
The first year of Unified Bowling in Whitesboro is off to a great start.
On Friday, March 1, the Whitesboro Unified Bowling team won the Section III Tournament held at Strike ‘N Spare Lanes in Mattydale, which is located in Onondaga County. Whitesboro was one of 17 Section III schools that participated in the tournament.
For the tournament, each team bowled three games. Teams were made up of eight students bowling on one team at a time, and each athlete had the chance to participate in at least one of the games. The bowlers’ combined totals were used to calculate the team’s overall score, and those team scores were used to calculate the winning team.
During the first game, Whitesboro’s score totaled 763, and the team was down 71 pins from first place. During the second game, Whitesboro’s eight-person team bowled a combined total of 963 and took over the first place lead. Holding onto that lead in the third game, Whitesboro bowled an 877, taking first place with a total of 2,626.
Patrick Peach bowled the high game of 137, and one of the High School student partners, Nate Deperno, bowled 188. All of the athletes bowled extremely well, and all of them bowled above their averages.
Congratulations to the Whitesboro Unified Bowling team on their win!
