Gymnast Taylor Bushey Wins State Champion Title on Uneven Bars
On Saturday, March 2, three Whitesboro gymnasts participated in the NYSPHSAA Gymnastics Championships, which was held at Cold Springs Harbor High School on Long Island. The gymnasts included junior Taylor Bushey, freshman Madison Scialdone, and eighth grader Kiara Khiamdavanh. The three girls, along with athletes from New Hartford, Oriskany, ESM and JD, represented Section III. They worked together to win the silver medal in the team competition!
The gymnasts also had success in their individual events. Taylor Bushey competed in the all-around event for Whitesboro. She scored a 9.175 on vault for 13th place, 9.7 on bars for 1st place, 9.325 on balance beam for 4th place, and a 9.25 on floor for 6th place. In the all-around, she finish an impressive 5th place.
Madison Scialdone competed and hit her beam routine to score a 8.925 for a 13th place finish. Kiara Khiamdavanh competed on two events for the Section III team. She scored a 9.15 on uneven bars for a 9th place finish, and 8.2 on floor.
