Whitesboro Runner Signs Letter of Intent to Run at Division I School

athlete smiles for photo One of Whitesboro’s star athletes will continue his running career at the collegiate level in 2019-20, and he made his future plans official by signing a letter of intent on April 4.

Lucas Casab, a sprinter for the Varsity Track team at Whitesboro High School, signed a letter of intent to be a sprinter for the Track & Field team at the University at Albany. The Great Danes Track & Field team is an NCAA Division I team that participates in the America East Conference.

Throughout his running career for Whitesboro, which began in eighth grade, Lucas has participated in events such as the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash for outdoor track, and the 55 meter dash for indoor track.

Lucas says he chose to attend the University at Albany because when he visited the campus, he felt like he was at home. He said he’s looking forward to competing at the highest level he can in college, and he’s looking forward to furthering both his education and his running career.

Lucas’ Varsity Track coach, Todd Budreau, said that Lucas is the hardest worker on the team, and Lucas actually makes him better as a coach.

Congratulations to Lucas, and best of luck on your future at the University at Albany!
