Whitesboro Athletes Compete in State Track and Field Meet
On Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, members of Whitesboro’s Boys and Girls Track and Field Team participated in the NYSPHSAA State Track and Field Meet.
All of the athletes who competed over the two days were either the best in Section III for their event, or they hit the qualifying standard to be able to attend the meet.
On the boys’ side, Lucas Casab competed in the 100M dash and he ran a time of 10.98 in the prelims, which qualified him for finals on the second day. In the finals he ran the 100M dash in a time of 11.02, which placed him 4th in his division.
The 4x100M relay team, which included Michael Collins, Andrew Hadasz, Ryan Zeppieri and Lucas Casab, competed and ran the season’s best time of 42.46. This time earned them a 6th place finish in their division.
On the girls’ side, Madison Kozyra competed in discus and had a throw of 117’, which placed her 12th in her division. Kelsey Wands competed in the long jump and had a jump of 17’5”, which got her into the finals and earned her 7th place in her division.
Wands and the boys relay team have hit qualifying standards to continue on next week to Nationals in North Carolina.
Overall, the boys and girls team competed with some of the best in the state, and each athlete showcased their talents to the best of their abilities. Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated!
