West. Rd. Elementary Participates in Take Your Parent to PE Week

parents help count while students exercise During the week of Sept. 23-27, Westmoreland Road Elementary School participated in Active Schools’ third annual Take Your Parent to PE Week.

The week-long campaign was an opportunity to introduce parents and guardians to their child’s physical education program, and encourage them to be engaged throughout the year and be physically active together at home and in the community.

Schools who registered to participate in Take Your Parent to PE Week also became eligible to win 67 prizes worth more than $40,000.

During the PE classes at West. Rd., parents and guardians observed the students warming up at the beginning of class, then participated and helped count the students’ repetitions in a timed exercise. A total of 114 parents attended PE classes throughout the week.

“Every kid had fun and it is amazing to see what PE is all about and what our kids do,” one parent said when asked what they enjoyed most about the class.

Another parent said they enjoyed “how wonderful the coaches were with the kids and the exercises they are doing with them,” and they said they loved how the coaches are teaching students about proper form and being fit.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Take Your Parent to PE Week!
