Whitesboro High School Seniors Honored as Students of the Month by Optimist Club of Whitestown
Six Whitesboro High School seniors have been honored as Students of the Month by the Optimist Club of Whitestown for the 2020-2021 school year.
The Student of the Month for November is Emma Armstrong. Emma’s extracurricular activities include being a senior member of Dance Works Studio, the Boston Conservatory Summer Dance Intensive, an assistant for the Titans Force Dance Convention, treasurer of Environmental Action Club, International Club, Symphonic Band, the Greater Utica Honors Band, Full Orchestra, National Honor Society, participation in the MVCC High School Math Competition, and participation in the Utica College Science Fair.
Emma has been awarded the Encore Dance Competition Broadway Dance Center Scholarship, the Joffrey Summer Intensive Scholarship, and she took second place at the MVCC High School Math Competition.
Emma’s community service includes volunteering with Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen, the Boilermaker Road Race, Spring Farm Cares, the America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk, and the Whitesboro Book Drive. She’s also an assistant for Dance Works Studio.
The Student of the Month for December is Bryce Collis. Bryce’s extracurricular activities include baseball, basketball, football, Science Olympiad, Model UN, Varsity Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, and he serves as class treasurer.
Bryce has been awarded the Clarkson Achievement Award and he is a Varsity Scholar Athlete for both football and baseball.
Bryce’s community service includes reading to kids at the Treehouse After School Program and helping with the Whitesboro Baseball Camp, Biddy Basketball and pancake breakfasts. He also works at Fred F. Collis and Sons.
The Student of the Month for January is Ian Crouch. Ian’s extracurricular activities include cross country, basketball, track and field, Varsity Club, Mohawk Valley Elite Basketball, Poetry Out Loud and National Honor Society.
Ian’s community service includes volunteering with the Ride for Missing Children, the America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk, bottle and can drives, the Skeleton Run, Biddy Basketball, and reading to elementary students with the basketball team. He also works at Superior Car Wash.
The Student of the Month for March is Tyler Kane. Tyler’s extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, JV and varsity basketball, JV and varsity baseball, and American Legion Baseball.
Tyler is a member of the Regional Program for Excellence and he is a Scholar Athlete.
Tyler’s community service includes volunteering as a Biddy Basketball coach, reading to Hart’s Hill elementary students with the basketball team, volunteering at JDRF, helping at Hart’s Hill Elementary School’s Game Day, placing flags on military graves for Memorial Day, and volunteering for spring yard cleanup with the baseball team. He also tutors, is a photographer for Angus Appraisals, umpires for Whitestown Youth Softball, referees for Whitestown Biddy Basketball, score keeps for Whitestown Girls Youth Basketball, and is a camp counselor for Whitesboro Summer Basketball.
The Student of the Month for April is Grace Stuhlman. Grace’s extracurricular activities include basketball, being captain of the girls soccer team, lacrosse, National Honor Society, Art Club, Political Discussion Club, the Girls’ Athletic Association, Regional Program for Excellence, Red Cross Club and Poetry Out Loud.
Grace is an AP Scholar, an Observer-Dispatch All-Star Athlete for soccer, was named Co-TVL Girls Soccer Player of the Year, was awarded the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, and was a member of the second place team at the MVCC High School Math Competition.
Grace’s community service includes volunteering for the Boilermaker Road Race Kids’ Run and being a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She also coaches for Whitesboro Youth Lacrosse and is a camp counselor for SB Lacrosse Camp.
The Student of the Month for May is Leah Tracy. Leah’s extracurricular activities include Symphonic and Concert Band, being Concert Band president, JV and varsity field hockey, girls varsity track and field, the MVCC High School Math Competition, the American Mathematics Competition, National Honor Society, Accelerate Winter Field Hockey League, and the Whitesboro Summer Field Hockey League.
Leah has earned Silver and Gold Key awards for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, was a member of the second place team at the MVCC High School Math Competition, and was “An Artistic Discovery” honorable mention in the Congressional Art Competition.
Leah’s community service includes volunteering with the Mohawk Valley Home Builders Association Home Show, volunteering with Honor Flight Syracuse, helping with the Field Hockey Boosters pancake breakfast, and the RFAJROTC charity car wash.
