Computer Science Students Compete in CNY Hackathon
On Saturday, November 11, members of Mr. Eramo’s computer science club and dual credit computer science class competed alongside students from all over the state in the CNY Hackathon. This event, hosted at Mohawk Valley Community College, is a day-long exploration in computer science and cyber security principles. Students are given a variety of challenges to complete and have to work in teams to come up with a plan to effectively complete these challenges and earn their team points.
Each student was given their own computer station and worked alongside one another to solve challenges in the realm of encryption, cyber forensics, networking and programming. By the end of the day, our student’s teams earned enough points to put them right in the competition with many of the colleges in attendance.
The students had an excellent time, learned a lot, and all agreed that it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Students are excited to attend again next year and to continue learning about computer science and cyber security here at Whitesboro.
