Senior Hockey Players Give Gifts to Westmoreland Road Elementary Class

Student and hockey players play with toy With the holiday season in full swing, the seniors on the Whitesboro Varsity Ice Hockey team paid a visit to a class at Westmoreland Road Elementary to spread some holiday cheer.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, Coach Todd Manley and the senior hockey players stopped by Mrs. Schoen’s 15:1:1 Primary Class to hand out gifts to the students. Each player was given a student to shop for, and they went shopping on their own time for the perfect gift. The hockey players then wrapped the gifts themselves, and they were able to hand-deliver them to the students during their visit.

The gifts included things like Transformers, Candy Land, a coloring set, a remote control monster truck, Troll dolls, and more. The students were excited to receive their gifts, but they were even happier when the hockey players pulled up a seat and joined them for some games and conversation as they played with their new toys.

“It is a great experience for both our students as well as the varsity hockey players,” Mrs. Schoen said. “Our students not only enjoy receiving the gifts, but love sharing the time playing with the gifts and talking with the hockey players. It is an enjoyable experience for all involved."

This is the fifth year that Coach Manley and his senior hockey players have brought gifts to Mrs. Schoen’s classroom at Westmoreland Road Elementary.
